The COVID-19 pandemic caused a widespread shut-down of labs and a drastic reduction of international mobility. The time course of the pandemic differs from country to country but we all hope that the situation will improve in the near future.
In order to compensate at least partly for the present restrictions and to help the restart of the international mobility we have decided to offer an extension of the BARI programme on a first come first served basis.
This means that the submission of internship proposals and the submission of applications for BARI research internships will be possible for the rest of the year (and possibly even longer) monthly, starting July 1, 2020.
The portal opens between 1st and 16th of each month for PhD candidates to upload their internship offers, for BA/MA students to submit their application and for professors to upload their references. Whenever a host and the prospective intern agree about the realization of an internship and the formal requirements are fulfilled, both parts will be informed and the internship can take place. Funding will be provided as long as suitable scholarships are available.
The COVID-19 pandemic will be also ongoing during the extension period. Therefore, it remains mandatory that the host and the intern plan their stay in compliance with the latest Corona regulations by their home and their host country, as well as by their home and their host institution. As the dynamics of the COVID-19 pandemic might necessitate some re-scheduling at short notice it is desirable that both, the host and the applicant are flexible as to the final time frame. It is advisable that both, host and intern clarify this during the selection process. Please do not hesitate to contact each other in this matter. Please ensure that the instructions concerning Covid-19 of the both home and host institutions are respected.
Due to the flexible funding scheme of the BARI Programme we will be able to inform you regularly about the current availability of funding. Please check the section “available scholarships” at BARI page on a regular basis whether funding is available for mobility you aim for. We are constantly looking for new funders in order to award as many internships as possible. That is why we are always encouraging new applications and offers.
Please find below the timetable for the outgoing calls for application starting on July 1st 2020. After the matching process is complete the portal will open on a monthly basis for the August, September, October, November and December call.
