Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

The Baltic Science Network (BSN) is a network gathering relevant transnational, national and regional policy actors from the Baltic Sea Region countries. You can see all participating project partners here.

The offical BSN website baltic-science.org and its content are managed by the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS), responsible for project communication.

2. What information do we collect about you?

Personal data can be many things. It may be a name, address and telephone number. Or it may be an image file or an IP address.
Personal data means all forms of information that can be used to identify an individual. As a consequence, it is not just the single piece of information that determines whether or not it can be classed as personal. If a number of pieces of personal information do not identify an individual on their own but do so when put together, then they can be characterised as “personal data”.

The following information is collected when you visit our website:

  • cookies

When you access our website, cookies are used by Google Analytics.

Any information you voluntarily input on baltic-science.org, any affiliated website or a third party service used by the BSN when, for instance, signing up for an event or applying for a scheme. Such information may include, but is not limited to:

  • Name and Surname
  • Organisation
  • E-mail address

BSN collects this data only for the explicitly stated purposes at the time of sign up and only for as long as neccessary for such purposes, after which time it is deleted. Some anonymised (unless otherwise stated) statistics may be shared with the project partners and third parties for, for example, auditing purposes.

3. How will we use the information about you?

We use your information (cookies) collected from the website to give you access to certain functions and to adapt the website to your preferences.

We use and implement cookies in Google Analytics to collect information about user activity on our website.

The information we collect is anonymized and cannot be connected to you. We use reports by Google Analytics to help to understand website traffic and webpage usage.

We will not share your information externally.

4. Access to your information and correction

We do everything in our power to ensure that your data is processed in a secure manner and that your rights are protected as far as possible.

We want to conduct regular reviews of our procedures and of how we process personal data. Data minimization is applied so no more data than is necessary is collected to provide BSN services.

In the unlikely event that you feel that we are not dealing with your enquiry accurately or your rights in accordance with the legislation, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us: [email protected]

5. Use of cooies

We inform visitors that we use cookies.

BSN and CBSS use cookies to give the visitor access to certain functions, for example, to adapt the website.
